ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. Fals (Bronze, 21 mm, 3.40 g, 10 h), Arab-Byzantine type, Tartus (Antarados), AH 40s-50s = AD 670s-680s. Imperial bust facing, draped and crowned; to right, K/A/Λ/O/N ('good' in Greek); to left, 'bi-Tardus' ('in Tartus' in Kufic) . Rev. Large M flanked by A/N/T and AP૪; in exergue, 'tayyib' ('good' in Kufic). Goodwin&Gyselen p. 50, 15. Very rare. Flan fault on the obverse and somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.
