ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Mu'awiya I ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. Fals (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.35 g, 7 h), Arab-Byzantine type, Hims. Imperial bust facing, wearing diadem surmounted by cross, paludamentum and cuirass, holding globus cruciger in his right hand; in left field, K/A/Λ/O/N ('good' in Greek); in right field, bi-Hims ('in Hims' in Kufic). Rev. Large m between E/M/I - C/H/C; above, eight-pointed star between pellets within circles; in exergue tayyib ('good' in Kufic). DOCAB 69. Goodwin&Gyselen, p. 49, type 14 var. (star between waves).
