Album of Reproduced Crosby Photos & Memorabilia
Crosby, Sylvester S. ALBUM COMPILED BY ROBERT WESTER FOR ROGER PERSICHILLI REPRODUCING PHOTOS AND OTHER MEMORABILIA RELATING TO SYLVESTER S. CROSBY AND FAMILY. 28 by 25.5 cm, cardstock album, apparently assembled in 1988. 10 leaves, on both sides of which is either writing, pasted reproductions of photographs, or both. Includes ten reproductions of early photos of Crosby and his family, along with modern photos of Crosby-related medals, several letters to Persichilli or Wester, Wester's reproduction of the well-known photograph depicting Dr. Montroville Dickeson with a Native American, and much handwritten commentary. Fine. A truly charming production that illustrates numismatic friendship at its best. Many of the original photographs, silhouettes, etc., from the Crosby family that were in Bob Wester's collection ended up in Jeff Hosford's Crosby collection, which we sold in our 2011 New York Book Auction (the photo of the home of Crosby's father, destroyed by fire in 1865, hangs on our wall as we write this). Wester and Persichilli met through Armand Champa and quickly became friends. A special item. Ex Roger Persichilli Library.
