1841 is the first year of the New Orleans mint.
With 2,500 pieces struck it is the second lowest mintage of the serie (1841-1861) very close of the 1859-O and its 2,300 pieces. This is the third lowest mintage ever produced by the New Orleans mint.
It is considered that less than 60 pieces are surviving which makes it scarce in all grades. About 30 pieces have grades going from 40 to 56. The highest known grade is 58.
