MUGHAL: Shah Alam Bahadur, 1707-1712, AR rupee (11.34g), Kanbayat, AH1119 year one (ahad), KM--, Nagpur-88 (same dies), couplet obverse, mint & regnal year on reverse as usual, lightly porous, VF, RRR. The obverse couplet is "bar zar zad sekke-ye saheb qearni / shah bahadur alamgir-e thani", the reverse text "zarb-e kanbayat jalus-e homayun sanat ahad" (reconstructed from this piece and the Nagur collection specimen). This type appears not to have been published in any of the regular studies of Mughal coinage, including the important but now somewhat obsolete work of Hodivala, who discussed the question of couplets on the coinage of Shah Alam Bahadur (pp. 322-323) (KM-346 has a shorter version of the couplet on the obverse, but normal reverse text, Akbarabad mint).
