TURKEY: Abdul Hamid I, 1774-1789, AR 2 kurush, Kostantiniye, AH1187 year 16, KM-406, slightly crude planchet, overall excellent strike, EF. The SCWC 18th century catalog (4th edition, 2007) for the coinage of Abdulhamid I has been so badly discombobulated - wrong photos, wrong denominations, wrong order, lost information - that I have returned to the old 1991 ANA Centennial edition, which is a pleasure to use, reminiscent of the former excellence of the Krause-Mishler catalogs, now destroyed and trashed by the disinterest of today's investment corporate owners. I do not blame Tom Michael and George Cuhaj, the only remaining editors, for the distant owners have stripped them of the additional staff necessary to maintain the glory of the past.
