QARA QOYUNLU: Qara Yusuf, 1406-1420, AR tanka (3.97g), Qazwin, ND, A-2478, in the name of Qara Yusuf and his son Pir Budaq, local design, usual weakness for this mint/type, crude VF, RR, ex Ruud Schüttenhelm collection. This is the easternmost mint in the Jibal that struck coins in the name of Qara Yusuf, presumably by order of the local governor, perhaps honoring Qara Yusuf in hope of protection against the Timurids invading from the east. Qazwin fell to the Timurids no later than AH824, which commenced on 5 January 1421.
