CH'ING: Tong Zhi, 1862-1874, AE charm (13.16g), CD1874, charms with cyclical dates are rare, VF, R, ex Thomas Olive Mabbott, Gregory Cole Collection. Thomas was an American professor, and researcher of literature -- most famously his study of Edgar Allan Poe, and numismatist (he collected everything from Ancients to Mining tokens). A lot of the material in his collection was probably put together from the 1920's-1930's. Some of the amulets may have been acquired by Mabbott from Ramsden.
