Medal undated (1800 – 1804), opus: Gatteaux. AE (g 53,4; mm 47). TRIBUNAL DE CASSATION, Justice standing holds the tablets of the law placed on an altar, with his left hand holds the balance. At the base of the altar: GATTEAUX. Rv. Within a wreath of oak a triangle surrounded by rays inside the triangle: LA LOI. Bramsen 93; T.N. 80,9.
Rare, octagonal medal, about fdc. The law of 24 windy year 8 (15 March 1800) established a new organization of the Court of Cassation, was on this occasion that this medal was minted. In 1804 the Court of Cassation finally became the Supreme Court.
