Napoleone Bonaparte, Coronation in Milan.
Medal 1805, opus: L. Manfredini.
AR (g 44,1; mm 42). NAPOLEO GALLORVM IMPERATOR ITALIAE REX, laureate head turned to the left, under the cut: L M. Rv. VLTRO, the standing Italy pose the iron crown on the head of Napoleon dressed as a Roman senator. Napoleon extends his right hand over an altar on which is located the Constitution, behind Italy a Corinthian helmet, a winged caduceus behind Napoleon. In exergue:D XXIII MAII / A MDCCCV. On the bar: L M. Bramsen 420; T.N. 7,7; Turricchia 429.
Rare and extremely fine patina of medals. Shots very light along the edge, extremely fine.
This medal is dated May 23, 1805, the day in which the decree of 22 May has set the date for the coronation in Milan. In fact, however, Napoleon was crowned just on May 26, 1805.; ;
