Reverse: COLLMNAS HERCVLIS EXCESSIT MAGNA VIRTVTE / PLVS VLTRA. The columns of Hercules in the sea, between them facing eagles with spread wings, above crown. GOLD. Extremely rare cast medal. Extremely fine with charming gold toning
Provenance: Ex Collection Sacha Guitry, Auction Emile Bourgey, Paris, 7 mai 1963, lot n°59 (4'000 Fr.). The consignor has generously decided to donate the proceeds of the sale of this medal to support the reconstruction and restoration of the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris.
