1911 $500 DC-19 Legacy Currency Grading Very Fine-20. The Holy Grail of the Dominion of Canada Series. Ownership of the 1911 $500 note represents the ultimate collecting achievement in the field of Canadian Currency. This would be an important addition to a major Canadian Museum, financial institution collection or a major highlight of a personal collection. This may be the most imporessive and most significant Dominion of Canada banknote ever offered in our auction. A 1911 $500 note in VF condition has transacted in a public auction in 2008 and sold for $322,000 US dollars. There is no example of an issued $500 note of the 1911 issue in the Bank of Canada's National Currency Collection, or in any other museum collection. The museum does have a 1911 Specimen and Proof examples of the $500 note. The offered example grades Very Fine, and has bright colours and good body. The centering is decent. The auctioneer believes that it is extremely unlikely that the other known $500 notes of the 1911 issue will be offered for sale, making this an unique opportunity to acquire an example of the ``Empress`` of Canadian banknotes. An amazing note which is one of the classic rarities in Canadian currency. Until the discovery of this note there were only three examples in private hands. Such an early Rarity, especially in issued format, is certainly a 'tasty' find for any serious collector and will most certainly serve as an absolute treasure in their collection. Excessively rare. A once in a lifetime offering and opportunity. Worth a premium bid.
