Thrace, Maroneia AR Tetradrachm. Circa 88-49/5 BC. Head of young Dionysos to right, wearing taenia and ivy wreath / Dionysos standing nude to left, holding bunch of grapes, two spears and cloak; [Δ]IONYΣOY to right, ΣΩTHPOΣ to left, monograms in inner left and right fields, MAPΩNITΩN in exergue. Cf. Schönert-Geiss 1168-9 (V56/R175-6). 15.21g, 34mm, 12h.

Very Fine; wavy flan with scattered marks.

Acquired from Kölner Münzkabinett.

Though not a direct match to 1168-9, this example is very close to the slightly barbarised style of these dies.
