Kings of Thrace, Lysimachos, as Satrap, AR 1/5 Tetradrachm. Struck under Kassander, in the name of Alexander III of Macedon. Amphipolis, circa 323-305 BC. Head of Apollo to right, wearing tainia / Youth on horseback galloping to right; ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ above, ΛY and forepart of lion below, trident head to right. Price -, but cf. pl. CXL, 435 = BM Museum No. RPK,p98A.2.Lys (same dies and therefore misattributed?); SNG ANS -; SNG Alpha Bank -; cf. CNG MB 73, 112 (symbol unclear); cf. HGC 3.2, 1746. 2.28g, 14mm, 3h.

Very Fine; beautiful old cabinet tone. Extremely Rare.

This type is unrecorded in the Price catalogue however the British Museum example which appears in the plates for entry 435 appears to have been misattributed.
