Aiolis, Temnos AR Tetradrachm. Civic issue in the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Circa 188-170 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress / Zeus Aëtophoros seated to left, holding sceptre; AΛEΞANΔPOY to right, monogram above oinochoe to left, monogram below throne. Price 1669 var. (monogram in left field). 16.69g, 36mm, 12h.
Good Very Fine. Extremely Rare; seemingly the only recorded variant of a very rare type.

There are only four examples of the type Price 1669 in Pella, all of which have a monogram consisting of the letters A, N and T in the left field (the monogram in Price is incorrect). The monogram in the left field of this specimen clearly consists of the letters A, N and Y.
