Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Kleopatra III & Ptolemy X Alexander I Æ Drachm. Uncertain mint on Cyprus(?), 107-101 BC. Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon to right / ΠTOΛEMAIOY [BAΣIΛEΩΣ], two eagles with closed wings standing to left on thunderbolt; vertical thunderbolt to left. A group of coins have been linked together on the PtolemAE Project site due to the double eagle on the reverse, stylistic similarities, their peculiar 'knife-edge' fabric and the variety of symbols present on the reverse. They have been dated to the time of Ptolemy IX-X, in part, since the two rulers are known to have utilised a large number of unusual symbols in a short time.
