Nero Ӕ As. Lugdunum(?), AD 65. NERO CAESAR AVG GERM IMP, laureate head to right / PACE P R VBIQ PARTA IANVM CLVSIT, front of the Temple of Janus with window to left and garlanded double doors to right; S-C across fields. RIC I -; C. 173 = BMCRE - cf. p. 273 * note for rev. type at this mint. 9.04g, 26mm, 6h.
Very Fine. An apparently unpublished hybrid.
From the Antonio Carmona Collection.
This apparently hybrid coin has the distinctive obverse bust type of Lugdunum with the globe at the point of bust, combined with a reverse type only seen at the Rome mint. Cohen and BMCRE refer to one coin of Lugdunum with this reverse type but with a different obverse legend.
