Romanus IV Æ Nummus. Contemporary imitative of Constantinople, AD 1068-1071. Bust of Christ facing with remains of pelleted cross behind head, wearing tunic and himation, right hand raised in blessing and left holding book of Gospels; across field, garbled legends: IC – XC over NI – KA / Latin cross with X at intersection and one large and two small pellets at each extremity, C – R over P – Δ across fields.
