Malaya Board of Commissioners of Currency 50 Dollars 1942 (ND 1945) Pick 14s KNB14 Specimen PMG Very Fine 30. This large format $50 note was finally issued in Malaya after the British regained control of the colony during the tail end of World War II. All colors are deep and the paper displays original embossing. Foxing spots are seen on both sides, which is typical for notes from this locale. Curiously, first generation fiber tip marker cancellations, a perforation, and a purple stamp were applied atop this formerly circulated note. It can be assumed that this note was retired from circulation through official channels in the late 1950s, around the time that Peninsular Malaysia was granted political independence from the U.K. At that time, a new Board of Commissioners of Currency was formed to include Sarawak, Singapore, North Borneo. This is a rare and curious cancelled note, officially labeled as an "Archival Specimen". https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/malaya-board-of-commissioners-of-currency-50-dollars-1942-nd-1945-pick-14s-knb14-specimen-pmg-very-fine-30/a/4030-26457.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4030 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
