Antoine Lumière had opened a small factory in Lyon in 1882 though his company, la Société Antoine Lumière et ses fils was established in 1882 – his sons being Auguste and Louis Lumière, all of whom are linked to the first moving pictures - cinema. On 2 April 1911 they merged their company with the brothers Joseph and Zacherie Jougla and became the Union Photographique des Ets Lumière et Jougla. The company ceased trading in 1966.
