Kiangnan. Kuang-hsü 50 Cents ND (1897) Fine Details (Environmental Damage) PCGS, Nanking mint, KM-Y144, L&M-211B, Kann-67, WS-0789, Wenchao-641 (rarity 3 stars). An exceedingly rare denomination from the inaugural year of the Nanking mint, postulated by the Standard Catalog of World Coins to have been produced to an initial mintage of only 100,000 pieces. Due to the relatively low number of surviving specimens coming down to the present date, examples are fiercely sought in all conditions, with this selection likely being comparable to the Norman Jacobs piece in terms of preservation.
