GEORGIA. First International Soviet Wine Competition Bronze Medal, 1965. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
Diameter: 61mm; Weight: 104.97 gms. By M. Eshba. Obverse: Nude female, holding grape bunch, and male, holding cup, kneeling facing one another, with vine trellis of grape bunches between them; Reverse: Bird, with head left, standing right upon inverted bird. Edge: Very minor bruise, otherwise plain. Yellow-brown surfaces, with some slight rub in spots. This RARE and very interesting medal features a somewhat stylized artistic nature channeling Art Deco, and was issued for the first International Soviet Wine Competition was held in Tbilisi in 1965, with the second such competition held five years later in the Crimea at Yalta.
