GERMANY. Saxony. Friedrich August II & Marie/Flood in Upper Lusatia Silver Medal, 1847. UNCIRCULATED Details. Scratches.
Brettauer-2052; cf. Merseberger 2206 (bronze); cf. Wittelsbach-2836 (bronze). Diameter: 48mm; Weight: 71.43 gms. By C. R. Kruger. Obverse: Jugate busts right of Friedrich August II and Marie, diademed and draped; Reverse: Two archways containing scenes of clothing and bread donations to the needy. Edge: A few light marks, otherwise plain. Quite attractively toned and brilliant, this impressive medal does exhibit some light scratches under the busts as well as one on the panel below the bread distributor. Nevertheless, an attractive piece on the topic of flooding and the state of emergency that ensued.

Estimate: $100.00- $200.00
