GREAT BRITAIN. Coronation of George III Gold Medal, 1761. London Mint. PCGS Genuine--Rim Damage, AU Details Gold Shield.
BHM-22; Eimer-694. Diameter: 33mm; Weight: 23.27 gms. By L. Natter. Mintage: 858. Obverse: GEORGIVS III D G M BRI FRA ET HIB REX F D, laureate, draped, and armored bust right / PATRIAE OVANTI, George seated left on throne, holding scepter and being crowned by Britannia standing to left; trident and Union shield to left; to outer right, lion seated facing, with forepaw upon orb; in two lines in exergue, CORON XXII SEPT / MDCCLXI. Though exhibiting some minor rim bruises and lightly scattered marks, this example otherwise remains a great representative of what was a meager output. Of the 858 produced in gold, 558 were presented to House members, while the remaining 300 were distributed at the coronation ceremony.
