MEXICO. Mexico - Spain. Charles III Lead Medal Trial Strike, ND (1759-88). CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
Diameter: 48mm; Weight: 37.60 gms. Possibly by G. A. Gil. Obverse: Garlanded bust right; Reverse: The letters of the alphabet arranged an a successive, circular formation, with the numbers 1-10 similarly arranged within. Edge: Some file marks as made. Overall, an elegant portrait of the Spanish monarch in the style of Gil, though no signature is observed. Some filing marks as made are noted on the reverse, and the obverse appears to have been struck over a previous version of this type, as some of the letters of the obverse legend faintly appear in the flow of the outer peripheries. RARE and very unusual.
