SOUTH AFRICA. Natal. Emnyati. King Dinizulu Bronze Award Medal, 1885. EXTREMELY FINE Details. Marks, Clasp Removed.
43mm; 38.57 gms. Laidlaw-0157; Barac-Unlisted. Unawarded. Obverse: Zulu shield over spears and set upon shield; above, ball of feathers with ostrich plume to each side; all within laurel and palm wreath; Reverse: DINIZULU INKOS KA ILIZWE AMAZULU (Dinizulu, King of the country of the Zulu) / EMNYATI 1885, central field left blank for engraving to awardee and between UKU (to) and BGOKUBA FANELA (for merit). Edge: Clasp removed at the top, otherwise plain. Deep brown surfaces, with some scattered scuffs and marks, and a few subtle bruises to the rims. Nevertheless, a VERY RARE medal pertaining to service under Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo, king of the Zulu nation from 1884 until 1913.
