Trajan. AD 98-117. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.24 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa mid AD 107-108. Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Trophy of arms set on stump, consisting of helmet at top with one round and two hexagonal shields; below, single spear and hexagonal shield to left, single spear and round shield to right. RIC II 147 var. (configuration and number of arms); Woytek 268bC var. (same); RSC 98 var. (same). Good VF. An apparently unlisted variety with two single spears at the base of the trophy.
