World - Lot of 4 receipts for a donation to the shekel of the World Zionist Organization, including a complete notebook

The Zionist Shekel, or Shekel for short, was a currency of the Zionist Organization, which was led by David Wolfson in the run-up to the elections to the Second Zionist Congress. The currency was symbolic and converted in each circulation to a value in the local currency. The origin of the name is in the ancient Hebrew currency - "shekel".

The Zionist shekel was used with the establishment of the established Zionist movement led by Benjamin Zeev Herzl, and until the establishment of the state to mark an annual membership tax. The "Shukel" was someone who purchased a Zionist shekel, as long as he turned 18, bought the right to elect deputies to the Zionist Congress for a year. Those who turned 24 years old were also entitled to compete on their own. The number of shekels sold in each country determined the number of deputies it was entitled to send to Congress. Naturally, in the years when no elections were held for the Zionist Congress, shekel sales fell. Although the shekel was a symbolic currency, as a certificate of payment of the tax, each weigher was given an invoice in the form of a bill, on which appeared images expressing the essence of the Zionist idea, and sometimes a photocopy of an ancient Israeli-Jewish currency.
