Israel - MODIGLIANI – "JEANNE HÉBUTERNE", State Medal - 1996 - Silver 999, 105g, 60x48 mm

Amedeo Modigliani, the renowned Jewish painter-sculptor, was born in Italy at the end of the 19th century and painted his most prominent paintings after he moved to Paris. From the onset of his career as an artist he focused on painting and sculpting women and his creations emphasized their elongated necks and large eyes filled with emotion. "Jeanne Hébuterne", his impressive, famous and apparently final painting, was chosen to grace this oval medal and first oval Adillion (medal-pendant) issued by the Corporation. Blue-eyed Jeanne, who was Modigliani's student, partner in life and the mother of his child, loved him with all her heart and soul. The painting depicts her beautiful and noble image.
Obverse:
Modigliani's famous painting "Jeanne Hébuterne" with the artist's name "Modigliani" to the right, along the border.
Reverse:
Modigliani's famous "Head" sculpture from around 1911, with the artist's name in Hebrew, to the left, along the border. The Modelia is one-sided and has a smooth reverse.
