The L'Abbaye Collection | William III (1694-1702), Chester, Shilling, 1696 C, R over V in GRA, first bust, no ties, rev. four strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.92g, 7h (Bull 1166; ESC 1082A [R4]; Spink 3499), lustrous with golden hues in recesses and purplish tinges in fields, otherwise the die sinker's error extremely clear, good extremely fine, and extremely rare with only six examples traced in commerce.
