(g) MS62 | George III (1760-1820), 'New Coinage', Sovereign, 1820, 'Closed 2', Large Date, laureate head right, rev. St George and Dragon, edge milled, 7.98g, 6h (Stratos 118; Marsh 4B; Schneider II, 630; MCE 466; Spink 3785C), a gorgeously mint fresh example with only scant trace of handling, the portrait especially bold suggestive of an early striking, a most handsome and good extremely fine, in NGC holder, graded MS62 (Cert. 5880285-005).
In the cataloguer's considered opinion a very harsh grade and certainly one of the nicest '62s' to be met with for this popular Sovereign issue!
Estimate: £2500 - £3500
