Philip I. Antoninianus; Philip I; 244-249 AD, Rome, 247-8 AD, Antoninianus, 4.87g. RIC-66 (R), C-238 (12 Fr.). Obv: IMP PHILIPPVS AVG Bust radiate, draped, cuirassed r. Rx: VICTORIA CARPICA Victory advancing r. holding wreath and palm over shoulder. Rare: only five specimens in Dorchester hoard, which for comparison contained 50 antoniniani of Aemilian and two of Cornelia Supera. The reverse commemorates Philip\'s Danube campaign of c. 246-8 and his victory over the Carpi.. MS
