Attica, Athens. Tetradrachm; Attica, Athens; 465-460 BC, Tetradrachm, 17.21g. Starr-Group III, similar to Starr-100. Obv: Head of Athena r. Rx: Owl standing r., head front; olive twig with two leaves and crescent moon beneath; ethnic in r. field.This coin was cataloged as Group IV, but is actually a much rarer Group III. Group IV and V are extremely common. Group III is one of the very rarest, with less than 15 coins recorded. The owl, rather than looking like a large owl, looks somewhat like a charming owlet. . EF
