1949: Sir John Craig, Deputy Master of the Royal Mint, 1938-1949, on his retirement, 57mm. (Eimer 2079); 1952: Sir Edward Stanley Gotch Robinson (1887-1976), retirement as Keeper of Coins and Medals (1949-1952), after 40 years at the British Museum, 1912-1952, 51mm., in blue leather case of issue; 1955: Horatio, Admiral Lord Nelson, 150th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, a pair of bronze medals, 57.5 & 38.5mm. BHM 4464; Eimer 2095); 1957: Albert E. Bagnall, FRNS, 80th birthday tribute medal, 38mm.
1959: Sir Richard [Grant Woodman] Burbidge (1897-1966), Chairman of Harrods, 1945-1959, on his retirement, 57mm., in leather case of issue with signed card of thanks; 1961: Franz Liszt (1811-1886), Hungarian composer, 150th anniversary of his birth, 57.5mm.; 1963: Cecil Harmsworth King (1901–1987), retirement as Chairman of Daily Mirror Newspapers, 1951-1963 and the paper's 60th anniversary, 56.5mm.; 1963: Thomas de la Rue, 150th anniversary of the security printing and papermaking company, 1813-1963, a pair of layered plastic medals in black and white, 31mm., in green leather fitted case.; 1964: William Shakespeare (1564-1616), 400th anniversary of his birth, 1964, 57mm. Sold with an unsigned Christmas card for 1957 containing a photograph of the medal for the Atlantic crossing by the Mayflower II (BHM 4469); earlier cards (2), unsigned and undated, one with photograph of Vincze's 'Victory Medal', 1945 (BHM 4411); the other a medal of two putti, one playing a tambourine the other a flute.
Paul Vincze (1907-1994), was born in Galgagvork, Hungary and studied under Ede Telcs at the Budapest School of Arts and Crafts and then for 2 years in Rome. In 1938 he fled Nazi persecution and settled in England becoming a British subject in 1948. He is best remembered for his many medallic portraits.
