George Davidson was an early exponent of impressionistic photography who exhibited widely. He became the managing director of Kodak in the UK. (bringing him considerable wealth), and was a founder member of the "Brotherhood of the Linked Ring", a photographic society created to propose and defend that photography was an art as well as a science. He was an ardent social reformer however for his activities as Christian Socialist he was made to relinquish his directorship of Kodak, whose activities were misinterpreted as being anarchist.
