ATTICA, Athens, silver tetradrachm, (c.165-42 B.C.), 34mm, (16.97 g), New Style coinage, with the monograms of the names which are certain, issue struck 179-178 B.C., (revised to 147-146 B.C.), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing a triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with a Pegasos in flight to right above the raised earpiece, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, on amphora, A-**Q*E to left A**D/EI/PO*, and to right H**L*/IO, trident to right, all within wreath. (cf.S.2555, Thompson 122 [same obverse die], cf.BMC 310). Struck on a broad flan, overstruck on an earlier coin, good fine and very rare.
