ATTICA, Athens, silver tetradrachm, (c.165-42 B.C.), 34mm, (16.66 g), New Style coinage, with the names of Dioph.. and Diodotos as the magistrates, issue struck 173-172 B.C., (revised to 141-140 B.C.), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing a triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, on amphora, A-**Q*E to left over monogram of **DHMT* and to right an eagle over monogram Y**FDN, **Q* on amphora, EY below, all within wreath. (cf.S.2555, cf.Thompson 283). Struck on a broad flan, very fine and very rare.
