SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochos Hierax `the Great', (245-227 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, 31mm, (16.83 g), Ilium Mint, obv. diademed head right of Antiochos Hierax, plain border, rev. Apollo Delphios seated left on omphalos, holding an arrow, and resting on bow, to right **BASILEWS* to left ANT IOXOY, complex monogram in exergue, (cf.S.6919 var., SC 870 [This Coin Illustrated Pl.41], Newell WSN 1608, Houghton CSE 650 [This Coin], HGC 9, 403d [R3]). Toned, very fine with flat strike in centre of reverse, very rare.
