Decentius, as Caesar, BI Centenionalis. Ambianum, AD 352. D N DECENTIVS NOB CAES, bare-headed and cuirassed bust to right / VICTORIAE DD NN AVG ET CAE, two Victories standing facing each other, holding between them a wreath surmounted by a Chi-Rho and inscribed VOT V MVLT X in four lines; AMB(pellet in crescent) in exergue. RIC VIII 26; Bastien 128; LRBC 16. 4.76g, 22mm, 12h.

Extremely Fine. Extremely Rare, possibly only the second known example of the type.

From a private UK collection.

Bastien projected the existence of this extremely rare coin as the type and mintmark were known for Magnentius, yet it was only in 2014 that he was proven correct by the sale of an example by Gemini in their Auction XI (lot 563, hammer: $650). Hitherto, no actual specimens had been found, with RIC erroneously quoting an example held by the British Museum to support their inclusion of it in the corpus. Thus, this is likely the second known example of the type.
