Modern Fantasy: Corinthia, Corinth AR Mule Stater. Utilising a rev. of Leukas. Circa 350-280 BC. Pegasos flying to left; Ϙ below / Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; grape bunch on vine over amphora and A behind. For prototypes, cf. BCD Akarnania 277-278; Pegasi 128-129; Sayles, Classical Deception #84.

Condition as seen.

Ex Dix Noonan Webb, 25 September 2012, lot 3870 (part of).

Interestingly, here the obverse of Corinth has been paired with a reverse of the city of Leukas in Akarnania. On the genuine ancient coins of Leukas, the Pegasos and Athena face the same direction on each side of the coin, be that to left or to right.
