Theodosius II (402-450). AV Solidus, Constantinople mint, 441-450 AD. Obv. DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG. Pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman motif. Rev. IMP XXXXII COS XVII P P. Constantinopolis enthroned left, holding globus cruciger and sceptre, resting left foot on prow; to left, star; in exergue, COMOB. RIC X 320 (R4). AV. 4.39 g. 21.00 mm. RRR. Very rare. Minor scratch on obverse, otherwise about EF/EF.
