KINGS OF LYDIA. Alyattes, circa 610-560 BC. Trite (Electrum, 13 mm, 4.80 g), Sardes. Head of a lion with sun and rays on its forehead to right; before, 𐤥𐤠𐤩𐤥 ('walw' in Lydian). Rev. Two incuse squares, one larger than the other. CNG 114 (2020), 334. Weidauer Group XVII, 91-2 and 95 var. (differing style and orientation of legend). The obverse struck from a somewhat worn die and with a minor flan fault, otherwise, about very fine.
