ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. Circa 88-84 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 3.08 g, 12 h), 'Plinthophoric' coinage, Nikephoros, magistrate. Radiate head of Helios to right. Rev. ΝΙΚΗΦΟΡΟΣ / P - O Rose with bud to right; to left, hand holding grain ear to left; all within incuse square. HGC 6, 1461. Jenkins, Rhodian, Group E, 249. SNG Keckman 676. Beautifully toned. Minor weakness and with light scratches on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
