SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Pentonkion (Silver, 8 mm, 0.26 g), a contemporary imitation. Head of Arethusa to right, wearing pearl diadem. Rev. Four pellets (mark of value) within the spokes of a wheel. Cf. Boehringer 431-3 and HGC 2, 1395 (for prototype). Boehringer pl. 30, B55 (for a similar imitation). Some horn silver and numerous scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
