PONTUS. Heracleopolis (as Sebastopolis). Caracalla, 198-217. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 32 mm, 15.74 g, 12 h), CY 208 = 205/6. AY KAI M AYPH ANTⲰNINOC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. CЄBAC/TOΠΟ HP/AKΛЄOΠ/OΠ - ЄT IHC (sic!) Herakles reclining left on lion skin; behind, club. The obverse somewhat smoothed, otherwise, very fine.
The date on the reverse of this coin reads IHC = 218 in error: it should be HC = 208, which dates the issue to 205/6 AD. When the reverse die was used for Septimius Severus, the mistake was noticed and the die cutter converted the erroneous ЄT IHC into a ЄT•HC.
