Pupienus, 238. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.55 g, 12 h), Rome, circa April-June 238. IMP CLOD PVPIRNVS (sic!) AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Pupienus to right, seen from behind. Rev. PAX PVBLICA Pax seated left, holding olive branch in her right hand and scepter in her left. BMC 46. Cohen 22. RIC 4. A very unusual piece with a curious spelling error in the emperor's name. Porous and with a flan crack, otherwise, about extremely fine.
