Gallienus, 253-268. Antoninianus (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.49 g, 7 h), irregular mint, imitating Rome, after 260. GALLIENVS AVG Radiate head of Gallienus to left. Rev. IOVI VLTORI Jupiter standing front, head to right, holding thunderbolt in his raised right hand; in field to left, S. Cf. MIR 348b and RIC 221 (for prototype). MIR -, but cf. 344b (for an antoninianus struck from the same obverse die, but with a different reverse type). A highly interesting contemporary imitation struck from an inverted obverse die. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
