Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.46 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 408-420. Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGG I / CONOB Constantinopolis, helmeted and head to right, seated facing on throne, holding scepter in her right hand and Victory globe in her left and placing her right foot on a prow; in field to left, star. Depeyrot 73/2. RIC 202. Well struck and attractive, a lovely example. Extremely fine.
