Theodoros Tzimplos, protonobellisimos, 11th century. Seal (Lead, 20 mm, 5.38 g, 11 h). Θ / Θ/Є-Δ/O/P Nimbate facing bust of Saint Theodore, holding a spear over his right shoulder, and resting a shield on his left arm . Rev. +KЄ R,Θ, / ΘЄOΔOP[O?] / ANORЄΛI/CHMOC O [T?] / ZHMΠΛ/૪ in six lines, decorations above and flanking the last line. Unpublished in the standard references. Good very fine.
The first letter of the penultimate line seems to be Γ, but it is read here as Z because the family name Tzimplos is attested for the 11th century. The unexpected genitive case in the last line poses another problem. Perhaps "o [tou] Tzimplou" was intended.
