ISLAMIC, Ayyubids. Mayyafariqin & Jabal Sinjar. al-'Adil I Sayf al-Din Ahmad, AH 589-596 / AD 1193-1200. Dirham (Bronze, 29 mm, 12.52 g, 1 h), Type A, Mayyafariqin, AH 591 = AD 1194/1195. Draped facing bust, wearing headdress and mantle, held together by clasp, from which pendant hangs down; in field to left and right, as well as in outer margin, Legend in Kufic. Rev. Legend in Kufic in five lines; around, legend in Kufic. Balog, Ayyubids, 337. Beautifully centered and in exceptional condition for the issue. Extremely fine.
